About the Role:

Our Paralegal reports to and supports the Chief Legal & People Officer and works cross-functionally with legal, compliance and business operations to produce a high volume of output with excellent organization. In this role, you will ensure AMBA meets and maintains ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. The Paralegal is responsible for the research, assessment, monitoring and oversight of all compliance and regulatory requirements, coordinating and organizing applicable licensing and other filings, and in collaboration with internal teams and outside counsel, evaluates, drafts, negotiate and manages contracts necessary for day-to-day operations. You will also assist internal and external counsel with managing litigation, including preparing filings, monitoring deadlines, preparing discovery, and assisting with research and analysis.

Day to Day:

· Maintains, updates and monitors the company's database of contracts

· Assists with license applications and renewal processes, including third party administrator licenses, insurance producer licenses, and risk purchasing group filings, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner

· Works cross-functionally to ensure adherence to relevant legal and regulatory requirements and company policies as appropriate

· Drafts or modifies organizational documents for corporate entities with close attention to calendaring required governmental and regulatory filings and fees

· Assists in implementing company-wide compliance, regulatory and legal practices

· Assists with filings, amendments and other paperwork needed by regulatory bodies

· Acts as point of contact for department tracking of contracts, updates, regulatory filings and more

· Reviews inquiries from internal partners and understands the underlying issues, reviews regulatory rules, conducts analysis of risks and makes recommendations relative to compliance with regulatory requirements

· Develops and/or annually reviews compliance policies and procedures to ensure consistency with governing statutes, regulations and guidance

· Reviews and updates policies as laws and regulations change

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

· 3+ years relevant paralegal experience, experience with an in-house law department preferred

· Associate’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred; Bachelor’s Degree a significant plus

· Experience with insurance law, licenses, and regulations strongly preferred

· Outstanding oral and written communication skills

· Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork

· Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with attorneys and business managers from different disciplines

· Flexibility and willingness to navigate areas of unfamiliarity

· Demonstrated ability to prioritize substantial and diverse workload and complete tasks within deadlines

· Comfort with a fast-paced creative environment is essential


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
  • Continually utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
