Our fulltime position centers around engaging talent and fostering an environment where team members can thrive, develop, and achieve their professional goals while supporting the objectives and business operations of TERRA Engineering. This role is instrumental in shaping company culture, driving performance, and promoting a positive work environment with a heavy focus on talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee relations. The successful candidate will contribute creatively and strategically while successfully executing the tactical and administrative responsibilities of the position. This position has no direct reports.

You Will:

  • Coordinate and execute talent acquisition, selection, hiring, and onboarding for the company
    • Including demonstrated success in sourcing and engaging passive talent
  • Effectively oversee employee relations matters, acting as a mediator in conflicts, and promoting a positive work environment
    • Excellent people skills and ability to address sensitive and/or uncomfortable situations with objectivity and dignity to all parties
  • Process and audit all documents and details associated with the employee life-cycle
  • Drive organizational culture initiatives, including diversity and inclusion programs, to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment
  • Implement internal policies and monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and organizational policies to mitigate risks and ensure legal compliance
  • Design and administer the performance review process
  • Collaborate effectively with business operations and administration to execute responsibilities
  • Assist with other HR and business operations functions

You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
  • 5-8 years of experience in talent acquisition and employee relations/engagement/conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of employment laws with a demonstrated ability to interpret and implement initiatives and policies to ensure compliance
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail
  • A willingness to partner with others on organizational strategy while executing the details of day-to-day tasks and responsibilities
  • The ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced business environment
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (including Excel & PowerPoint)
  • A strong sense of urgency
  • The ability to be present in our Chicago office 2-3 days per week and work during regular business hours
