The Business Office Manager is responsible for supervising all activities within the Business Office department including but not limited to claims generation and billing, payment posting, insurance AR (Accounts Receivable) management, denials resolution, credit balance and refunds management. The position will be responsible for the ongoing operational development and performance of the Business Office processes. They work with the Regional Sr. Director of RCM to manage employees of Business Office department.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises all Revenue Cycle Business Office staff in accordance with organization’s policies.
  • Identifies and communicates billing, cash, AR, and denial trends to RCM leadership.
  • Reviews and resolves escalated issues as needed in accordance with management policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with Financial Clearance and Coding and Revenue Integrity leadership to report identified issues occurring stemming from other departments.
  • Cultivates and manage strong relationships internally and externally.
  • Oversees and guides Business Office staff when necessary to resolve errors and clarify issues.
  • Audits productivity and quality of team.
  • Creates, maintains, updates, and provides training on policies and procedures.
  • Identifies potential process improvements and recommends ways to improve efficiencies.
  • Ensures adherence to third party payer, governmental and internal system regulations relating to billing, documentation, compliance, and reimbursement.
  • Sets productivity and quality standards and holds supervisors accountable for meeting team goals.
  • Administers praise or disciplinary action, completes performance evaluations on time, resolves conflict positively/constructively, creates a positive work environment, and encourages/respects/values the contributions of all individuals.

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES ?

Demonstrates understanding of business and how actions contribute to company performance.

Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinic functions.

Experience in the use of CPT and HCPCS required.

Maintain a complete understanding of claims generation, payment posting, AR Management protocols and required software systems (payer sites, clearinghouses, practice management systems etc.).

Develop and maintain a working knowledge of payer rules and guidelines.

Track trends, inconsistencies, or discrepancies and resolve and/or escalate as appropriate.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.

Ability to follow policies and procedures for compliance and medical billing.

Ability to type and enter data with proficiency and accuracy.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.

Ability to successfully meet timelines.

Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS ?

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS ?

  • Minimum 5 years RCM management supervisory experience within a physician’s office or medical environment.
  • Experience in Urology or physician practice environment preferred.
