The Role

A Production Line Lead provides hands-on leadership and is responsible for the productivity of their assigned team. In this role, the lead will guide their team in performing tasks and directing the production line under the supervision of a supervisor or manager. The lead also acts as a backup to the supervisor or manager on the floor, performing tasks, accurately completing paperwork, ensuring employee attendance on the production line, and coaching and mentoring employees on production procedures and policies.

As a Production Line Lead, you will perform your assigned tasks while leading your team's efforts to safely meet production schedules while adhering to company guidelines and following Health & Safety and Food Safety Programs. In this role, you will effectively support the company and its goals, as well as your team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure production schedules are met, resolve issues, and apply resources effectively to meet quality and safety standards
  • Oversee adherence to processes, policies, and quality requirements; ensure team compliance with company policies, quality programs, and safety standards
  • Assist with identifying staffing needs, participate in interviewing, and train team members on assigned job tasks
  • Manage daily team operations, communicate production targets, and understand the impact of failures on quality and costs
  • Foster a positive team environment by defining roles and expectations, support team members and demonstrate leadership to enhance engagement and trust
  • Manage various tasks, demonstrate best practices, collaborate cross-functionally, uphold high standards through personal example, model willingness to adapt, grow and take on new responsibilities
  • Address quality concerns, segregate non-conforming materials and demonstrate knowledge of kitchen health, safe food storage, and safety guidelines
  • Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures by following company standards, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice), maintaining temperature and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) logs as required
  • Ensure production paperwork is accurate, updated, and maintained including math calculations, and documents are scanned, and data entered in computer and digital scorecard
  • Participate is safety training, report any safety issues or unsafe conditions, and keep work area safe and orderly through regular housekeeping
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently as well with team members in a fast-paced environment
  • Be dependable, punctual, and adhere to company attendance with regular attendance as an essential job function
  • Act as backup to supervisor or manager and perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Conditions:

  • Tolerate extreme temperatures, wet and humid environments, and high noise levels while wearing protective devices
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand for extended periods, as well as walk, reach, bend, smell, listen, speak, and see in order to perform the essential job duties
  • Work around moving mechanical parts and frequently lift, push, and slide packages up to 50lbs (occasionally up to 70lbs)
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, effective time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced production environment
  • Read, write, understand instructions, and perform simple math calculations
  • Flexible to work extended days, weekends, and be available for call-backs.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent or related experience
  • 1 year of experience in food manufacturing or related field preferred
  • 1 year team lead experience
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and unit conversions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English a plus
  • Forklift experience is a plus

Hourly Rate: Pay is based on experience and starts at $16.00 an hour
