Job DescriptionJob Description

DBR is hiring Mechanical Design Interns in our Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, McAllen, and El Paso office. Individual duties vary based on project type, complexity, and candidate’s prior internship experience (if applicable).

This is an architectural/planning internship design role, therefore prior experience working on commercial buildings and facilities is beneficial.

Job Duties:

  • Research building codes and standards for each project where applicable
  • Assist mentor in performing HVAC load calculations utilizing Trane Trace 3D plus or Carrier HAP software
  • Assist mentor in sizing ductwork and piping systems as applicable to each project
  • Assist mentor in preparation of mechanical construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD/Revit
  • Assist mentor with selection and scheduling of mechanical equipment applicable to each project
  • Review design documents with mentor or engineer prior to completion
  • Communicate with internal team members and external project team members as necessary to complete design
  • Attend at least one project site visit throughout the duration of the internship. Attending additional site visits as applicable for assigned projects is encouraged when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering

Skills:

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiar with AutoCAD/Revit
  • Works well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate and work with others as part of a project team
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Show a willingness to learn and ask questions
