Rehabilitation Specialist

Wage: base of $21.00/hr. average $24.50

Premium Pay: The workweek for day shift begins at 12:00 a.m. on Monday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. This would produce premium pay timeframe of 12:00 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 a.m. Sunday.


General Description of the Position:
Your purpose is to provide individualized training, support, and supervision for people with intense needs so that they can safely participate within community life. Intense treatment focuses on helping individuals to gain insight into their sexual behaviors, find workable solutions and improve their decision making skills. You will function as a team member to consistently implement plans related to risk management and goal attainment.

Qualifications:
High school graduation and at least 18 years old.
Prefer experience in working with people with developmental or psychiatric disabilities.
Valid driver's license -- must have a safe driving record and be insurable under our insurance
Pass a qualifying criminal background check which includes motor vehicle report.
Negative drug test

Agency Requirements During Orientation Period:
ITS DSPs must attend and complete the following courses (offered within agency):
New Employee Induction and Orientation
Human Rights and Abuse/Neglect/Exploitation Training
CPR, First Aid
Medication Certification (as applicable to the area)
Safety and Sanitation, Blood Borne Pathogens, Safe Lifting
Applied Humanism Training
Teaching Techniques Training
Person Centered Thinking Training
Problematic Sexual Behavior Treatment Course

Essential Functions:
Create and maintain positive relationships with the people we support by displaying dignity, respect, and person-centered thinking.
Create and maintain positive relationships with team members by using effective communication and team-building skills per BHW's Standards of Performance.
Provide for individual safety and well being.
a. Implement staff supervision in all environments per Risk Management Plans.
b. Monitor and maintain environmental control measures per Risk Management Plans.
c. Intervene with problematic behaviors in an expedient manner.
4. Administer prescribed medications and (delegated) medical protocols.
5. Guide and assist people with completion of their daily routines, including:
a. Personal care assistance (bathing, oral care, dressing, etc.)
b. Lifting/transferring support for people who use a wheelchair (may exceed 50 lbs)
c. Assistance with nutritious meal planning and preparation.
d. Assistance with household cleaning and maintenance.
e. Shopping assistance for both personal and household needs.
f. Providing transportation using agency vehicles.
g. Support with recreational activities both at home and within the community.
6. Provide individualized training and treatment to address intense needs and personal goals.
a. Provide counsel and direction per Risk management Plans and ITS Professional teams, which can
include:
1. Development of individual decision making skills.
2. Creating the connection between responsibilities and privileges using logical consequences.
3. Maintenance of social boundaries and expectations.
b. Provide training and support per Individual Plan for goal attainment, which can include:
1. Vocational skills development
2. Social skills development
3. Daily Living skills development
4. Community living skills development.
7. Participate in the team processes for assessment, plan development, and problem solving.
8. Respond to problematic behaviors (providing both proactive and responsive interventions) and crisis situations.
9. Complete accurate documentation of individual supports, activities, and behavior using agency forms.
10. Ensure that environments remain clean and safe per agency standards and procedures.
