The Harm Reduction Assistant is responsible for helping with the daily operations of Evergreen’s Drop-In Services including: non-judgmental space, shower, laundry, food and beverage and individual and group support. In particular, this role ensures that services are provided smoothly, in a safe environment and tracked appropriately.

As part of the Essential Functions of this role, the Harm Reduction Assistant:

  • Assists Drop-In Services Coordinator and designated staff and peers in providing daily services
  • Oversees aspects of workflow such as greeting patients, patient sign-in, directing phone calls, managing sign-up for shower and laundry
  • Orders and stocks food and beverage for Drop-In Services in kitchen area
  • Approaches patients of Drop-In Services in order to promote services such as group activities or explore their individualized needs
  • Tracks and reports services provided based on guidance from Drop-In Services Coordinator and CBH leadership. Maintains and protects sensitive information in enterprise systems and uses/shares data in compliance with Information Governance and Security Policies.
  • Maintains competency in education pertaining to people who use drugs, including: overdose prevention (Narcan training), conversations about safer use, disease prevention and available resources at Evergreen and in the community
  • Provides quality customer service to patients of Drop-In Services and other HRC programs
  • Comfortable intervening and seeking support from supervisors and other designated staff when patients are in crisis
  • Serves as member of Evergreen’s Emergency Response Team for overdose, medical and behavioral health emergencies and is comfortable intervening in challenging situations with patients
  • Communicates appropriately and professionally with neighbors, law enforcement and other community stakeholders
  • Collaborates with Evergreen’s Security Team
  • Assists and supports other HRC programs (SEP, low-threshold buprenorphine) with administrative duties as needed
  • Develops and implements improvements in general office systems and procedures, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the office
  • Leads effective organization of supply closets
  • Attends program meetings, including actively participating in routine supervision
  • Participates in quality improvement projects related to programmatic goals.
  • Other duties as requested.


Qualified candidate will hold an Associates degree and two (2) years of qualifying experience working in program/service support. Bachelors degree preferred .Candidate will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines. Candidate will be able to work in a fast paced environment with excellent attention to detail. Candidate must have sensitivity toward cultural diversity, HIV/AIDS and lifestyle and substance use issues essential.

Job type: Full-time

Required education/experience: Associates degree and 2 years of qualifying experience working in program /service support.
