SUMMARY

The Director of Programs oversees Day, SCC, SLS, and Vocational programs by providing program- and service-related leadership and guidance to assigned employees and volunteers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Management

Direct supervision and oversight of program staff to include Lead Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals,


Review and compliance tracking for files relating to people served by PDI.

Requirements:

The Supervisory Responsibilities for this role involve directly overseeing program-level management staff as assigned by the organization.


Minimum Requirements for All PDI Positions include:

  • Age: Must be 18 or older.
  • Screenings: Pass a pre-hire drug and background screen and comply with random drug screenings throughout employment.
  • Computer Skills: Be computer-literate and comfortable with technology.
  • Communication: Possess well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Training: Complete and pass First Aid, CPR, and other required training.

If the position requires driving a PDI vehicle, you must:

  • Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Motor Vehicle Record Review: Agree to a review of your motor vehicle record for inclusion on PDI’s authorized drivers list.
  • Automobile Insurance: Provide proof of automobile insurance.
  • Insurance Limits: Provide proof of meeting the required automobile insurance limits.


Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Five years in service delivery related to support for people with disabilities, mental health, health, or education, including at least two years in a senior managerial or leadership role. Experience must include direct responsibility for licensure or regulatory compliance, cross-functional teams, and budget control.
  • Licensure: Must obtain and maintain Continuing Education hours for Class B Licensure.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant field.
  • Experience: At least two years in a senior managerial or leadership role with direct responsibility for licensure or regulatory compliance, cross-functional teams, and budget control.


The Language Ability required for this role includes the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. The role also requires strong writing skills for reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Additionally, the ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries or complaints from managers, clients, customers, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public is essential. This includes handling sensitive inquiries or complaints with professionalism and tact.


The Mathematics Ability required for this role includes the capacity to calculate figures like discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The role also requires applying concepts from basic algebra and geometry, along with the ability to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations. Additionally, proficiency in developing, using, and manipulating financial spreadsheets is essential.


The Computer Skills required for this position include a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, internet software, and communication systems. Additionally, the Day Program Director must be familiar with specialized software relevant to their areas of responsibility. Knowledge of assistive technology is also desirable for success in this role.


The Reasoning Ability required for this role includes the capacity to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This role also involves interpreting a wide variety of technical instructions, whether in mathematical, written, or diagram form, while managing multiple abstract and concrete variables effectively.


The Work Environment for the Director of Programs is primarily based in the main PDI facility, with reasonable accommodations available for persons with disabilities. While the role occasionally involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions, the overall atmosphere is dynamic and lively. Though the noise level can sometimes be elevated and fast-paced, it fosters an energetic and engaging environment that promotes adaptability and teamwork.


The Position Type and Expected Hours of Work for this role are full-time and exempt. Typical working hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, flexibility is required, as the schedule may vary to accommodate special events, which could include evening, weekend, and holiday hours.


The Physical Demands for the Director of Programs position include:

  • Lifting/Moving: Regularly lifting/moving up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds, and very rarely up to 100 pounds with assistive devices.
  • Vision Requirements: Close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Physical Activity: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Communication: Regularly talking and hearing.
  • Behavioral Challenges: Occasionally responding to unpredictable behavior from individuals served.


Travel: Routine travel within a 75-mile radius of the PDI main facility is required, with occasional overnight business travel as needed.
