Charles Wright Academy (CWA) is a co-educational, non-religious, independent school located in University Place, WA. Charles Wright Academy is located on a beautiful, green, and sprawling 107-acre campus that includes athletic fields and more than 60 acres of gorgeous Pacific Northwest forests that also serve as an extension of our proper academic campus. Our educational philosophy of experiential learning includes unique daily opportunities for wilderness exploration, hiking, birding, wildlife observations, gardening, nature habitat sketch subjects for art studies, local biological science exploration, conservation work, farming, and more.

Position Description:

The administrative assistant facilitates the efficient operations of the assigned divisions by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides customer service to students, parents, and visitors.
  • Executes security protocols.
  • Answers, screens, and transfers phone calls. Receives and routes incoming mail.
  • Maintains organization of supply rooms and storage closets, coordinates maintenance of office equipment.
  • Completes administrative tasks, including administrative inquiries, and projects as requested by supervisor.
  • Responsible for overseeing the assigned areas. Administers basic first aid, dispenses approved medications, and maintains records on children and medical histories. Supervises sick or injured children and communicates with parents/families or seeks professional medical attention if warranted.
  • Maintains all student records. May be responsible for credit card reconciliation for the department.
  • Schedules all events and meetings, works with facilities and other departments on scheduling and communications plans.
  • Manages calendar and communications of the Director they support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks with interruptions.
  • Take direction well, work effectively under stress and meet short deadlines.
  • Ability to relate well to a variety of constituencies (faculty, parents, and students).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Strong understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
  • Desire to aid students, families, and colleagues.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  2. Must be able to traverse school facility and lead students to safety in the event of an emergency.

Salary & Benefits:

This position has a salary range between $22 and $26 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Benefits available are subject to plan and candidate eligibility.

Insurance:

Medical, Vision, Dental; Basic Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability; Health Care FSA; and Dependent Care FSA may be available to employees, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan.

Retirement Plan:

CWA offers an employer and employee contributed 403(b) plan, up to a 7.5% employer contribution subject to the terms of the plan documents and employee eligibility.

Vacation:

Employees receive 13 days off per year in fiscal years 1-5; 18 paid vacation days in fiscal years 6-10; and 23 paid vacation days for 11+ fiscal years of service.

Paid Sick Leave:

Employees may receive 116 hours of paid sick/wellness leave per year.

Paid Holidays:

CWA offers 12 paid holidays per year.
