Key Responsibilities

  • Compensation and Benefits: Oversee compensation and benefits programs to ensure they are competitive and compliant with regulations. Develop a comprehensive total reward system starting with time to offer, including annual reward statements and education on our total rewards program, balanced throughout the year.
  • Recruitment and Staffing: Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring & onboarding of new team members, working closely with leadership to meet staffing needs.
  • Employee Relations: Manage employee relations processes, including handling conflicts, disciplinary actions, and performance issues to foster a positive work environment.
  • Employee Engagement: Promote a high level of employee engagement and morale through various initiatives and programs.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate and deploy training programs to enhance employee skills and ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Performance Management: Implement and maintain performance appraisal systems to drive employee performance and development.
  • Compliance & Risk: Stay current with federal, state & local regulations related to healthcare and employment laws. Develop, update, and communicate HR policies. Identify and assess potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate. Work with legal counsel and risk management as appropriate.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Maintain HR records and generate regular reports on HR metrics.
  • HR Systems: Manage HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and other HR technologies to streamline HR processes.
  • Identify and implement Process Improvement initiatives designed to simplify and automate human resources functions for efficiency of services at scale.
  • Strategic HR Management: Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that align with Ortho Nebraska's goals and objectives.
  • Support transition and integration initiatives associated with mergers and acquisitions for a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Maintain knowledge and remain current on industry trends and changes in federal and state employment laws.
  • Customer Service: Ensure a customer service-focused approach in all aspects of HR operations to foster a positive experience. Champion a service mindset within the HR team, emphasizing a commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of our customers through effective communication, support, and proactive problem solving. Actively seek feedback to continuously improve HR services.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge:
    • Strong knowledge of employment laws, healthcare regulations, and best practices, multistate preferred.
    • Familiarity with HRIS and other HR software.
    • Recruitment and selection strategies.
    • Training assessment techniques.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to build rapport with physicians, team members, leadership, and external resources.
    • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, trust, integrity, and be able to maintain confidentiality.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Proficient in conflict resolution and employee relations.
    • Ability to lead discussions on difficult or sensitive issues to achieve the best outcomes and common goals.
    • Open and willing to learn; interested in bringing new ideas and processes to the organization.
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Physical:

  • This position is classified as Sedentary Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 1-pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time) and /or a negligible amount of force frequently (33%-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
