OVERVIEW

USCRI Albany, through the support of the New York Department of State Office for New Americans (ONA) will be offering group therapy to immigrants in the Capital Region. This program offers direct services which are trauma-responsive and culturally sensitive for immigrants in New York. This program will facilitate group therapy sessions with new Americans in need of mental health services. The therapy groups will cover psychoeducation, learning skills to strengthen resiliency, support for parents of children with disabilities, and art therapy exercises. This position reports to the Health & Wellness Manager and the Albany Field Office Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a curriculum for group topics.
  • Facilitate regular group therapy sessions that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and complete case files by updating database systems, submitting reports, and managing physical case files.
  • Utilize evidence-based treatments for immigrants and refugees in need of mental health services.
  • Carry out comprehensive clinical assessments of participants and administer surveys.
  • Coordinate and maintain communication with key stakeholders.
  • Participate in regular training and communication sessions with on-site supervisor and headquarters staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be Licensed Mental Health Professional in New York State (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC).
  • Have demonstrated experience facilitating group therapy sessions.
  • Experience with & knowledge of refugee and immigrant community local resources preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Access, and Excel and other database programs is required.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a demanding work environment.
  • Must have a valid state-issued driver's license, automobile insurance, clean driving record and reliable personal transportation.
  • Must pass a criminal background and other screening requirements.
  • Ability to travel locally as required.
  • Demonstrated support of USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
  • Fluency in one of the key languages used by population is preferred (includes but is not limited to: Spanish, Pashto, Farsi, Arabic); proficiency in additional languages a plus.
  • Candidate must have dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers and displaced people.
  • Covid-19 vaccination card is mandatory.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
  • Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
  • Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
