Position Summary

The Wet Plant Operator is responsible for ensuring the operations of the site wet plant continues to operate efficiently through managing chemical mixing and pumping, general housekeeping of the wet plant and light maintenance of equipment. The successful candidate will be a self-starting team member who enjoys the challenges of wet plant operations with the operations team.

Essential Functions

  • Identify needs and equipment status in pre-operation evaluations
  • Collaborate with other Wet Plant Lead Operator and production supervisors on the type of work needed and the best methods for work to be performed; evaluate and review necessary procedures, materials, labor and resource material needed
  • Manually mixing and pumping appropriate chemicals to be applied to wet plant washer
  • Coordinate with team members on various projects throughout the wet plant
  • Respond to needs for light maintenance or maintenance assistance to ensure ongoing operations of the wet plant
  • General housekeeping of the wet plant including cleaning pulleys and the use of water hoses to clean areas
  • Moving various pieces of equipment with the use of heavy equipment as necessary to complete projects
  • Escalate issues to Wet Plant Lead Operator that fall outside of scope or when additional consult is needed

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Six (6) months prior experience in sand operations or relatable production is required; one (1) year prior experience with sand plant production related is preferred
  • Exceptional communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal abilities; organization and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to use mobile equipment like skid steers, manlifts and SkyTraks required
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically

Physical Requirements

  • Shoveling wet sand frequently
  • Sitting in and operating mobile equipment at least six hours per day
  • Must be able to lift 75-pound screens and pulley guards overhead frequently
  • Using 20-pound sledgehammer frequently
  • Climbing stairs frequently
  • Stooping, bending over and crawling frequently
  • Walking through muddy areas constantly
  • Twisting and turning valves frequently
