The intern will be responsible for cataloguing, archiving, and organizing documents and historical information to support camp property staff. The position will include scanning documents, filing, creation of binders, and establishing a system of record keeping.

The intern is required to work out of the corporate headquarters at least once a week, depending on class schedule.

Learning Outcomes include the following:

  • Gain experience planning, creating, and developing recordkeeping procedures.
  • Gain experience in researching and analyzing data.
  • Gain experience in creating professional written correspondence.
  • Gain an understanding of non-profit operations.
  • Gain experience working in a professional office setting.
  • Gain experience working with dynamic community leaders.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Research industry best practices for historical data record keeping.
  • Utilize the organization’s existing location for records to help establish a easy to locate historical data system.
  • Prepare and organize recordkeeping files into proper locations according to camp property.
  • Scan documents for digital record keeping.
  • Create a digital and file record keeping systems for staff.
  • Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Girl Scout mission by representing GSHPA in a positive and professional manner.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of council-wide initiatives and/or cross functional teams to further the mission of GSHPA.


Requirements:
  • Enrollment in a college course in Archival Studies, Non-Profit Management, Business, Engineering, Architect, History, or Historical studies, or related field.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom and Microsoft Teams).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Conduct polite and professional communication in person in addition to via phone, virtual meetings, email, and/or mail.
  • Effectively identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Pass and maintain required background clearances.
  • Work with individuals of diverse background and ages.
  • Use sound judgment and critical thinking skill when decision making.
  • Strong public relations skills and ability to develop community collaborations.
  • Travel to Camp Hill and/or Williamsport office, as needed.
  • Lift/carry thirty (30) pounds.
  • Sitting, standing, or walking for a moderate period of time is required.
