Customer Service Floater

Department: Customer Service Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Office Manager

Work Schedule: M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Customer Service Floater is responsible of performing Customer Service functions that provide support to the department. Incumbent will in different areas as needed and assigned by the Office Manager. Will also provide assistance to the Manager in carrying out general office duties and are performed in accordance with general work instructions and established office practices, procedures and precedents. To perform job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements and functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • General office duties, billing, filing, preparing shipping documents including but not limited to Bill of Lading, Shipping Letter of Instructions, Customs 7512 Form, Verified Gross Mass for containers.
  • Updates departmental filing system as needed.
  • Process customer’s orders including but not limited to input in JD Edwards, shipping instructions and pricing.
  • Matching Sales Orders, Sending Invoices and Bill of lading to customer AP email.
  • Research history from files for invoices for Accounting, Scan / Index internal documents in Docuware.
  • Assist Document Control as needed, processing pickers, Invoices and 7512/QP documentation.
  • The position requires participation in scheduled inventories, as needed.
  • Flexible schedule and overtime required.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or GED and 2 years Freight Forwarding, Customer Service, Accounting, Clerical experience in related field or a combination of experience and education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Import/Export paperwork and Customs Documentation.
  • High level of Customer Service and organization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve under stressful/high pace environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience in Power Point systems are a plus.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of offices practices, procedures and proper usage of office equipment.
  • Ability to perform and prioritize a variety of assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate (read and write) effectively in a business environment.
  • Ability to follow procedures and instructions.

COMPUTER SKILLS/EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

  • Good computer skills: Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook
  • Computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, telephone
  • Background in EDI and JD Edwards preferred
