Our Last Mile Division in TX is renowned for its Airport Expedite Freight Delivery Service & Medical Supply Routes, handling everything from small parcels to un-palletized bulky items, ensuring the middle & final mile is completed with the utmost care. 


Who We're Looking For
ShipEX Last Mile is on the lookout for a dedicated Operations Specialist to join our team. We're seeking someone who is not only experienced in driving but also adept at using technology for order processing and navigation. This role involves regular interactions with technology and physical handling of goods, requiring both technical know-how and physical agility. 


Primary Focus & Responsibilities:


Delivery and Transportation:

  • Delivery Duties: Perform duties as a delivery driver, safely operating various types of vehicles, including XL Sprinter vans and 26 ft box trucks with lift gates, to deliver goods to customers. Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safe delivery.
  • Loading and Unloading: Assist in loading and unloading items, ensuring they are handled properly to avoid damage. Utilize load securement equipment, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, and stair climbing hand trucks to move items efficiently. Ensure items are delivered to the customer's specified location within their home, whether it be threshold or room of choice.
  • Order Handling: Handle orders and complete all documentation digitally via phone or tablet apps, including ELD connections, navigation, and digital training participation.
  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections and maintain detailed Driver Daily Logbooks to track hours of service and ensure compliance with Hours-of-Service regulations.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Master the use of manual and electric pallet jacks, hand trucks, stair climber hand trucks, and proficiency in securing freight with ratchet and e-straps.
  • Navigation and Technology Use: Safely navigate in various environments and utilize technology for trip planning and task completion.


Fleet Management:

  • Maintenance Oversight: Assist in the maintenance and repair of all vehicles in the fleet. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan. Collaborate with mechanics and technicians to address any identified issues promptly.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance to prevent operational disruptions. Ensure all vehicles are kept in optimal working condition, adhering to safety standards and compliance regulations.


Dispatching:

  • Operational Coordination: Coordinate and manage dispatch operations, ensuring efficient routing and timely deliveries. Utilize dispatch software to track deliveries, optimize routes, and monitor driver performance.
  • Driver Communication: Communicate with drivers to provide clear instructions, updates, and resolve any issues that arise during transportation. Ensure drivers are equipped with all necessary information and support to complete their deliveries successfully.


Operations Management Support:

  • Planning and Coordination: Assist the operations manager in planning and coordinating work schedules, projects, and resource allocation. Ensure that operational activities align with company goals and objectives.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor performance against operational targets and provide detailed reports to senior management. Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency.


Customer Service and Communication:

  • Customer Interaction: Handle customer inquiries and complaints efficiently, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Provide accurate information and resolve issues promptly to maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Team Communication: Maintain effective communication channels within the team and with other departments to ensure smooth operations. Facilitate collaboration and information sharing to support overall organizational objectives.


Requirements:

Experience:

  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in delivery, fleet supervision, dispatching, or operations management. Experience in logistics and transportation is highly desirable.


Technical Skills:

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using fleet management and dispatch software to manage operations, track vehicles, and optimize routes. Familiarity with systems like Samsara, Teletrac Navman, or similar is preferred.
  • Vehicle Knowledge: Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair procedures, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
  • Office Tools: Competence in using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.


Soft Skills:

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
  • Organization: Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
  • Leadership: Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise, motivate, and develop a team. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Adaptability: Adaptability and flexibility to handle changing circumstances and responsibilities, demonstrating resilience and a proactive approach.


Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree in logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. DOT Medical Certification (if applicable) to meet regulatory requirements for commercial driving.
  • Age Requirement: Must be 22 years of age or older.
  • Special Credentials: TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required for DFW Airport.
  • Veterans: DD214 on file to verify military-like experience, meeting all hiring criteria.
  • Screening: Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and have no more than three occurrences of moving violations or at-fault accidents in the past three years.


Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday position with potential weekend coverage filling in.
  • Opportunities for Weekends and Single / Multi-night over the road routes.
  • Future opening for overnight shifts.
