We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join the culinary team at Gemelle, a fine dining establishment known for its exquisite cuisine and elegant dining experience. The Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring exceptional quality and creativity in our seasonal menus.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and plate presentation, maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create and execute innovative menus that showcase the restaurants culinary vision, utilizing seasonal ingredients and unique flavor profiles.
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure adherence to recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Uphold stringent standards of food quality, freshness, and sanitation, ensuring compliance with food cost percentages through meticulous planning and ordering.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to deliver exceptional dining experiences, accommodating special requests and dietary preferences with precision and professionalism.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of proven experience as a Sous Chef in an upscale or fine dining restaurant.
- Strong culinary skills with a passion for creativity and a keen understanding of contemporary culinary trends.
- Leadership abilities with a collaborative and motivational approach to team management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- A culinary degree from an accredited institution is a plus but not required.
- Food Manager or Serve Safe Managers Certification is required.
