This role is crucial for implementing safety policies and addressing safety matters both in the field and officeJOB DESCRIPTIONThe Safety Engineer will support the safety manager and project team by overseeing and implementing safety protocols on construction sites. The role involves making informed safety-related recommendations, managing safety policies, and addressing safety issues. The Safety Engineer will assist in planning, monitoring work activities, and correcting unsafe conditions.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including project staff and trade partners.
  • Understand and apply the company’s safety and health program, as well as regulatory standards (e.g., EM 385-1-1).
  • Assist the project superintendent with maintaining and managing the accident prevention plan, safety management tool, and crisis management plan.
  • Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process, including reviewing activity hazard analyses and conducting follow-up inspections.
  • Perform project safety audits and manage project point files.
  • Support OSHA inspections and assist with investigations of accidents and near-miss events.
  • Monitor safety performance of both the firm and trade partners.
  • Attend safety awareness and competent person level courses.
  • Gain knowledge of the construction process and roles within the project team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to effectively converse, read, and write in Spanish.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with construction safety programs and regulatory standards.
  • Previous involvement in safety audits and accident investigations.
  • Knowledge of advanced safety management tools and techniques.
