Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer and Safety Specialist to join our team at Apex Systems. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of our operations, while also driving capital and maintenance projects forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with corporate engineering to establish and implement capital budget programs, managing and overseeing the plant's capital portfolio and leading projects to successful completion.
  • Guide the maintenance program at the site, including PMs, contractor work, reliability strategies, and asset management in line with company and ASNI/API standards.
  • Train and motivate a highly competent, flexible, and efficient workforce to meet plant needs in a safe manner, promoting employee involvement and safety programs.
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to plant employees, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and coordinating health, environmental, and safety programs.
  • Represent the plant in health and safety audit reviews, ensuring regulatory compliance and communicating new regulations and trends.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years' directly related engineering experience, with 2+ years in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Relevant training or experience with safety, health, and quality systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to vary schedule to support all 3 shifts.
  • Good working knowledge of OSHA and solid working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 1 year experience with TPM.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management tools and techniques on cross-functional teams.
  • Solid working knowledge of applicable government environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated competence in managing one or more engineering projects concurrently, with emphasis on in-depth technical contribution.
