Quick Information:

  • This position is an entry level help desk position, that being said, we are looking for an individual who is interested in growing with us, either within a help desk, training, or computer systems administration role over time, as we grow our department.
  • Salary range is based on 40 hours per week, position is hourly with overtime & shift differential available
  • This position does involve periodic light travel as we support multiple offices across Western and Central PA.


Job Summary:

The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for most of the end user technical life cycle within MedCare, including but not limited to account creation/termination, account permission changes, level 1 end user support, facility access, and equipment distribution. They handle inventory management, and end user equipment maintenance. The Technical Support Specialist triages all incoming help desk support requests, either resolving or escalating the requests as needed. The Technical Support Specialist may also write support documentation and procedures for common or recurrent issues end users may experience, as well as periodic training sessions for end users on common system usage or MedCare specific applications. A Technical Support Specialist typically has an associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, as well as relevant certifications or experience. They need to have strong technical skills, as well as problem-solving, organization, communication, and teamwork skills.

I. Core Essential Functions:

  1. Maintain end user account lifecycle including but not limited to account creation, changes, termination, and permissions.
  2. Maintain inventory lifecycle of end user equipment, including but not limited to inventorying, deployment, and maintenance.
  3. Maintain access control / physical security access to facilities for each end user, including but not limited to staff and 3rd party vendors.
  4. Provide level 1 end user / help desk support, including after-hours & weekend critical issues.
  5. Work with application and system vendors to resolve hardware or technical issues encountered by end users.
  6. Maintain support documentation, and timely completion of all support requests.
  7. Host periodic or on-demand training sessions for end users.

II. Specialty Essential Functions:

  1. End User Account Lifecycle
  2. Works with HR & Department Heads on the creation, change, and termination of accounts, as needed.
  3. Works with Department Heads to maintain proper application permissions for end users.
  4. Inventory Lifecycle End User Equipment
  5. Inventories, configures, and deploys end user equipment as needed.
  6. Replaces faulty end user equipment, working with Senior Technical Support Specialist for warranty replacements or recycling/ data destruction in accordance with organization decommissioning and security policies.
  7. Facility Access Control
  8. Maintains facility access control for end users and 3rd party vendors, limiting access to facilities and locations necessary for the end users’ position.
  9. Level 1 End User / Help Desk Support / 3rd Party Application Support
  10. Provides level 1 support to end users via help desk tickets, walk-ups, and calls.
  11. Provides after hours support for critical issues, including unexpected system outages, and end user work stopping issues.
  12. Works with 3rd party application & system vendors for support issues, including but not limited to opening support cases, and facilitating troubleshooting.
  13. Help Desk Documentation / Management
  14. Maintain documentation for common or reoccurring support issues to enhance end user experience, as well as the department.
  15. Manage overall ticket lifecycles, making sure tickets are being updated, documented, and handled in reasonable timeframes.
  16. End User Training
  17. Provide end user training on basic computer skills & organization specific applications both periodically and on-demand based on organization/ user need.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Associate degree, or level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through the completion of a vocational training program in Computer Technology or related field.

Certification / Licensure / Regulation:

  • Valid PA Driver’s License – Some functions listed above include periodic interoffice travel.

Prior Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of two (2) year technical experience with resolving end user support issues, as well as level 1 system/ network support issues, or equivalent educational experience (associate degree).
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for both internal and external communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
