The Food Pantry Coordinator oversees the overall operation of the food pantry and supports community members who are food-insecure by offering food, resource referrals and other types of assistance and information.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide food assistance to neighbors in need, treating everyone with dignity and respect.  Includes greeting guests, following in-take procedures and assisting shoppers.  Conduct client interview and registration for pantry services.
  • Place orders with vendors, grocery donors, as well as purchasing food and non-food items from local stores, as required.
  • Train, schedule and provide daily supervision of food pantry volunteers.  Coach volunteers or retrain, as required.
  • Maintain proper chain of custody of donations and enforce loss-prevention policies.
  • Coordinate food pick-ups/deliveries.
  • Maintain required metrics and reports related to donations, services provided, government agencies, etc., entering all information into database.  Follow guidelines for document retention and destruction.
  • Update and track food and supply inventory, making recommendations regarding regularly stocked items and noting trends.
  • Stock shelves, packs/unpacks pantry items, etc.
  • Implement and develop applicable food pantry policies and procedures.
  • Establish relationships with community donors, volunteers, EECM leadership, etc.
  • Develop innovative ideas and recommend improvements to improve services to neighbors.
  • Provide information and referrals to other social services for which guests may be eligible, including other services provided by EECM.
  • Show/understand cultural competency for diverse populations.

Qualifications:

Salary: 35,000
  • Cultural awareness training, experience working with people of diverse backgrounds, skills, and needs.
  • Prior experience working in a NFP or community organization is preferred.
  • Bilingual experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree and experience in kitchen or food pantry management or a combination is preferred.
  • Act 33 and 34 clearances required.
  • Possess a reliable, insured vehicle and a current valid, regular Class A Pennsylvania driver’s license with no accidents, points or violations in the past 3 years.  Must be maintained throughout course of employment.
