Classification: Seasonal - Winter

Milton Academy is an independent college preparatory K–12 school, boarding and day in grades 9–12, located just outside of Boston.

Summary of Position:

Milton Academy is in search of an Assistant Boys Varsity Hockey Coach for the 2024-2025 school year. The hockey program competes in the Independent School League (ISL) and is a member of the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). The hockey program has a tradition of excellence and has competed at the highest of levels within prep school hockey. The assistant coach will assist with all aspects of the boys hockey program at Milton Academy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading the boys hockey program and comply with the institution, NEPSAC, and ISL protocols
  • Assist in designing and implementing practice plans under the direction of the head coach
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining prospective students for the program
  • Assist in the placement of students who have a desire to play hockey at the collegiate level
  • Follow all safety practices and Academy policies as outlined in the school’s Student Handbook and Coaches Handbook, including the policy against hazing and bullying
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision to be received: Position reports to the Director of Athletics.

Supervision to be exercised: N/A

Education/Certification/Licensure

Required: Must have a valid driver’s license

Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Experience

Required: Knowledge of the game.

Preferred: Coaching and/or playing experience at either prep school or college level preferred

Physical Abilities

Required:

  • Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing stairs
  • Frequent talking, listening, walking, sitting, and standing
  • Must be able to move around the Milton Academy campus without restriction.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to drive students in a Milton Academy vehicle to and from games/practices
