Position Summary:

Milton Academy seeks an Assistant Coach for the Boys Varsity Hockey program for the academic year. The hockey team competes in the Independent School League (ISL) and is affiliated with the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). Our hockey program has a distinguished history of excellence and competes at the highest levels of prep school hockey. The assistant coach will support all facets of the boys' hockey program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of the boys' hockey program, adhering to institutional, NEPSAC, and ISL guidelines.
  • Collaborate in the creation and execution of practice plans under the head coach's supervision.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of prospective student-athletes.
  • Facilitate the placement of students aspiring to play hockey at the collegiate level.
  • Comply with all safety protocols and Academy policies as outlined in the relevant handbooks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervision:

This position reports to the Director of Athletics.

Qualifications:

Required: Valid driver's license.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

Required: Strong knowledge of hockey.

Preferred: Coaching or playing experience at the prep school or collegiate level.

Physical Requirements:

Required:

  • Occasional lifting, bending, and navigating stairs.
  • Frequent communication, walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Ability to move freely across the Milton Academy campus.
  • Capacity to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Willingness to transport students in Academy vehicles for games and practices.
