Position Summary:The Process Engineer will be responsible for being the subject matter expert of our processes and continuous improvements in Wixom, MI. The Process Engineer will be intimately involved in understanding our processes and machines, improvements of machinery and collaborating with team members to continually train and improve their skills. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity Position Responsibilities:
  • The Ability to handle glass products and work with various machines in a manufacturing setting
  • Research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
  • Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings, equipment, and manufacturing work cells.
  • Conduct studies and performance checks of the equipment to keep it ensure we are producing the highest quality products
  • Develop preventative maintenance plans, create work instructions, job aids, training material and documentation.
  • Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Establish and monitor preventative maintenance procedures for equipment.
  • Train, coach, teach, and mentor our Team Members on new processes and skills while working with our equipment.
  • Knowledge of equipment to aid and expectation for daily machinery set up and post maintenance shutdown
  • Lead new equipment start-up
Minimum Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience in glass fabrication, tempering, cutting, insulated glass or process engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial, Preferred
  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Work in a team environment – everything we do depends on everyone working together, getting along, and having patience for each other.
  • Ability to recognize problems, frame solutions, and integrate permanent resolution through Operations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend production reports, training manuals, financials, work orders, and customer, supplier, and intra-work correspondence
  • Knowledge of operations and manufacturing equipment with an ability to correlate the operation of equipment to production.
  • Ability to use tools to ensure proper fix and placement and to be able to observe machinery in operation and diagnose problems.
  • Ability to assess the status of the plant and processes to identify maintenance needs and to obtain data to track processes and equipment
  • Leadership, time management and people skills.
  • An entrepreneurial, self-disciplined, creative analytical person.
  • Critical thinking skills required to determine how to manufacture products most efficiently under strict time constraints and with occasional mechanical deficiencies
