Job Summary

The Mental Health Therapist provides counseling services, crisis intervention and housing support services for youth ages 18-24 who are utilizing Vita Nova housing programs and case management services. The Mental Health Clinician performs individual and/or community focused resource coordination activities to ensure youth receive comprehensive care. The Clinician must possess training and group facilitation skills, knowledge of related community resources, and the ability to collaborate with other community organizations and agencies.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Credentials in the State of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with Master's degree (MA/MS) from an accredited university or equivalent in behavioral sciences or related field. Qualified Supervisor credential preferred.
  2. Four years related experience and/or training, preferably with young adults age 18-24 and knowledge of the homelessness system in PBC.
  3. Computer literate, exemplary documentation of records with ability to document records electronically.
  4. Demonstrated ability to keep accurate and complete charts, client records, required data forms and processes.
  5. Demonstrated ability to perform additional duties such as facilitating client support groups, individual or group counseling, health education, child development activities and/or training.
  6. Demonstrated ability to represent the agency in a professional manner with collaborative groups.
  7. Must be trained in one or more modalities: trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy.
  8. Must have excellent client engagement skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform mental health, substance abuse and other risk assessments in accordance with program standards.
  2. Develop counseling interventions in coordination with the youth.
  3. Provide individual and group counseling.
  4. Identify community resources, provide linkages to services, and coordinate services for youth.
  5. Complete biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and other documentation in a timely manner.
  6. Mediate potential housing disruptions, facilitate conflict resolution and create safety plans.
  7. Participate in weekly individual and group supervision as required.
  8. Attend trainings to expand knowledge of current intervention options.
  9. Coordinate and provide supervision to college-level social work and/or mental health interns.

Requirements

Valid drivers license and reliable transportation

This role will be primarily based out of Vita Nova's the Spot drop-in center during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) with some evening or weekend hours required

Must be able to pass Level 2 background check and drug screen
