Key Objectives:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Investment Accountant to join our team. As an Investment Accountant, you will be responsible for investment accounting and reporting. You will work closely with the finance team and will play a crucial role in managing investment portfolios, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and analysis to support decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in investment accounting and financial analysis, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality results. This can be a fully remote position.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Investment Accounting
    1. Preparation of the investment reconciliation between Clearwater and the general ledger; including journal entries, account reconciliations and account certifications
    2. Complete month end closing procedures including analytical reviews of investment balances, unsettled trades, suspense accounts to support the accuracy of our financial statements
    3. Ensure timely clearing of suspense activity, proper recognition of investment related transactions in the general ledger through partnership with Investment Accounting third-party service providers, client representatives and finance team
  • Financial Reporting
    1. Assist in the preparation of Quarterly and Annual financial statements and disclosures related to investments
    2. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of investment results, including fair value measurements and impairment analysis.
    3. Prepare quarterly reports for Board of Director meetings for applicable clients
  • Compliance and Audit
    1. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including NAIC guidelines, state insurance department requirements and internal policies.
    2. Coordinate with external auditors during financial and regulatory audits
    3. Implement and maintain strong internal controls over investment accounting processes.
  • Other Responsibilities
    1. Participate in the development and enhancement of investment accounting systems and processes as necessary
    2. Provide support for special projects and initiatives as assigned by management
    3. Stay current with industry trends, accounting standards and regulatory changes affecting investment accounting.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of investment accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in investment accounting software and advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in investment accounting, preferably within the insurance industry.

Special Requirements:

  • Possible occasional requirement to work from different office locations in US, to meet with colleagues as needed.
