Our client is seeking the applicant with all “The Right Stuff” for this newly created position. They are looking for a highly skilled and exceptionally tech-savvy Litigation Legal Assistant to join their dynamic defense team at their Downtown Firm. The ideal candidate will have a very stable work history in a professional law firm environment with at least two years of experience in legal defense work and must possess exceptionally sharp technical skills. This role requires an individual who excels in leveraging technology to support complex litigation processes, thrives in a fast-paced corporate environment, and demonstrates meticulous attention to detail. The Litigation Legal Assistant will handle generating and managing legal documents, performing various administrative tasks, and providing comprehensive support to attorneys in all aspects of complex defense litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help attorneys with preparing, revising, and managing a wide range of legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and discovery materials.
  • Conduct research, organize case files, and manage sophisticated document databases and e-discovery tools.
  • Utilize advanced technology skills to streamline processes, manage electronic filing systems, and maintain accurate and accessible records.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and external parties to schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and other materials for hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Monitor court deadlines and ensure all filings and documents are submitted promptly.
  • Provide administrative support such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
  • Help with billing, timekeeping, and expense reporting, using advanced software tools.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in legal defense work.
  • Exceptionally sharp technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal research databases, document management systems, and e-discovery tools.
  • Experience with complex defense litigation, including labor law, environmental tort, oil and gas, and business law.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology effectively to improve efficiency and accuracy in legal processes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a corporate law firm environment.
  • Familiarity with case management software and legal practice management systems.
  • Paralegal certification or relevant legal education is a plus.
