Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional and behavioral support to an individual student as directed by the teacher.
- Assist special education teachers with materials preparation, IEP implementation, data collection, and progress monitoring.
- Administer medications following District Policy JLCD and guidelines from the Department of Health Services.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and bus boarding.
- Assist with health and personal needs, including bathroom assistance, diapering, feeding, and lifting students.
- Apply de-escalation strategies and manage classroom behavior.
- Perform restraints when necessary, following district-approved training.
- Document care and services for Medicaid reimbursement.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide support as directed for any student.
- Attend district-provided training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma/GED required.
- Experience: Prefer one year of related work experience in a K-12 school setting.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with students with various disabilities.
- Certificates: CPI, CPR, and First Aid certifications highly recommended (training provided by the district).
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Regularly required to talk, see, hear, stand, walk, sit, and use hands.
- Must frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds with assistance.
- Potential exposure to outside weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels.
- Exposure to physical risks such as bruises, bites, cuts, spitting, kicking, hitting, and scratches. Gloves are provided for bodily fluids protection.
