Preservation Technologies LP is a company dedicated to helping universities, academic institutions, cultural entities, and private companies preserve and maintain access to their collections. PTLP was founded on the guiding principle of bringing engineering and innovation to the field of cultural preservation. We have successfully developed the patented Bookkeeper® process, which extends the life of books and manuscripts by neutralizing harmful acids found in paper. PTLP was officially established in 1992 and is a limited partnership. Having developed a reputation as a worldwide leader in paper preservation, Preservation Technologies was in a unique position to expand its services to help clients preserve other cultural collections. The MediaPreserve division was added in 2006 to address our customer’s need to reformat and preserve important audio, video, and film collections.

The MediaPreserve, provides high-quality reformatting services for archival audiovisual materials of all types and formats. Using expertly modified legacy equipment as well as current technologies, our staff of engineers, librarians, archivists, and preservation specialists work with each client to customize a preservation program based on an institution’s needs and infrastructure. Our staff is committed to ensuring all materials are transferred and documented according to professional standards and best practices throughout the process so that our client receives the best quality deliverables for preservation, editing and access purposes

Primary Responsibilities

Complete routine daily accounting tasks and assist with any unscheduled tasks that arise.

  • Accounts Receivable, including generating sales quotes and invoices, posting cash receipts and credit card payments
  • Accounts Payable, including determining general ledger codes for invoices and purchase orders, posting invoices and issuing checks
  • Corresponding with customers and vendors as needed
  • Expense report management and credit card statement processing
  • General ledger and bank account reconciliations
  • Fixed Asset management and reporting
  • Maintain prepaid expense schedule and post expenses to the general ledger
  • Inventory control and reconciliation
  • Manage security system and building access badges for new employees and contractors
  • Create custom management reports and perform data analysis as needed
  • Manage Canadian bank accounts and file and reconcile GST/HST quarterly returns
  • Assist with the year-end financial statement audit
  • Month end close responsibilities, including but not limited to, account reconciliations, accruals, record petty cash, depreciation and amortization journal entries, cost of goods sold calculations, account variance analysis, cash flow forecasting

Experience and Abilities

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently and willing to take on responsibilities, as needed, in a small, fast-paced environment.

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

· 0-3 years of experience

· Attention to detail, with an emphasis on accuracy and quality

· Basic understanding of accounting, including debits and credits, general ledger chart of accounts structure and accrual basis of accounting

· Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Excel, including v-lookups, sum if formulas and pivot tables
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software preferred
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills
