Position: Children's Ministry Coordinator
Status: Part-Time, Hourly

About This Role

The primary responsibility of the Children's Ministry Coordinator is to ensure that each encounter with the children's ministry of Transformation Church is inviting to both members and guests. The Children's Ministry Coordinator casts vision, plans, and advocates for children's faith development, safety, and discipleship.

 Primary Responsibilities and Tasks of the Children's Ministry Coordinator

  1. Collaborates with other ministry team members to plan and execute a comprehensive program that includes worship, fellowship, and age-appropriate studies that guide children as they grow in faith.
  2. Lead in the creation and annual updating of safety policies and guidelines.
  3. Choose and provide all children's ministry curriculum and plan, create, and implement weekly programs for children.
  4. Regularly and intentionally communicate with parents, families, and children's ministry leaders within the church and our community to ensure children have many opportunities to thrive.
  5. Recruit, train, and encourage children's ministry volunteers.
  6. Plan and organize an annual Vacation Bible School for the summer months.
  7. Respond to emails, phone calls, and other inquiries in the children's ministry promptly and professionally.
  8. Prepare classroom materials promptly and ensure that classrooms are set up and ready for Sunday services and special events.
  9. Oversee the schedule of children's ministry volunteers for Sunday services and other events to ensure that all positions are covered and an adequate child-to-volunteer ratio is maintained.

  7. Must be willing to transfer to our new church plant in Eureka, MO, in 2025.

Your Team

 This position reports to the Senior Pastor.

This position works closely with a team of children's ministry volunteers who serve during weekend services and various ways during the week.

Key Performance Indicators

The strategy of the ministries that the Children's Ministry Coordinator leads reflects the overall growth strategy of the church:

  1. Develop disciples and leaders.
  2. Serve, engage, and invite the community.
  3. Grow City Groups who help others grow in faith.

Three metrics provide the evaluation process for the Children's Ministry Coordinator.

  1. Recruit two new volunteers and leaders by the end of 2024. Design and implement a strategy for encouraging more volunteers to serve with the children's ministry. Identify and onboard three new volunteers across age groups. 
  2. Create the 2024 annual calendar and integrate it with the overall church planning process. (We will assist in creating the calendar.) Plan children's ministry learning opportunities and events in alignment with church-wide initiatives to increase engagement and participation. 
  3. Increase children's ministry attendance. Create a strategy to invite more children to learn with the children's ministry during weekend services and to attend children's ministry events.

·         Invest and invite the lost to experience a Jesus-centered life at Transformation Church.

Your Schedule

This position is a part-time to-start, hourly, around 5-10 hours a week (We will evaluate regularly with you to ensure you have adequate time necessary to fulfill the job description effectively, so the hours will increase over time as the ministry grows.) Your time will be divided, including working here on Sunday mornings and remotely from home. This position is part of our new church plant initiative, so you will be helping create the initial vision and curriculum for the Children's Ministry for Transformation Church. We are a new church plant with less than a dozen children to start; we aim to grow this ministry exponentially.
