Job Summary

The Hot Kitchen Lead receives instructions directly from the N1 Kitchen Director and Corporate Chef. With these directives, they oversee the daily production of hot food components for approximately 5,000 meals. Collaborating with other Kitchen Leads, they coordinate daily tasks, staffing, workflow, and product expediting to ensure timely delivery. The Hot Kitchen Lead offers guidance and leadership to kitchen coworkers, assisting with on-the-job training for new hot kitchen employees. Their vision is to transform lives and shape culture through a dedicated commitment to servant leadership.

Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops procedures to enhance food quality.
  • Reports directly to the N1 Kitchen Director, ensuring smooth hot kitchen operations.
  • Guides hot kitchen team members to complete tasks promptly.
  • Ensures staff readiness for the next day's tasks before the end of each shift.
  • Coordinates meal preparation for tastings and special events.
  • Adheres to and implements N1's HACCP Plan and SOPs.
  • Follows N1 recipes for consistent work accuracy.
  • Manages hot kitchen staff's timekeeping via ADP and approves hours as necessary, in collaboration with the Director.
  • Ensures compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Safely prepares hot food for children, including those with allergies and dietary restrictions, utilizing appropriate labeling.
  • Acquires knowledge of meal patterns such as NSLP, SBP, CACFP, and trains employees on procedures.
  • Maintains a positive attitude during repetitive tasks, serving as a company culture ambassador and morale booster.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills in effectively managing and motivating a diverse team.
  • Assists Director and HR with employee hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Use & maintain the Master Annual Calendar.
  • Build & maintain a healthy Company Culture.
  • Understands, upholds, and enforces company handbook.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English for receiving instructions and reading N1 documents.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on solutions-based decision-making.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attendance record and committed to early morning opening shifts (starting around 2-3am, Monday-Friday).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Manager Level ServeSafe Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior kitchen preparation experience.
  • Proficient in team management within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Understanding of convection ovens, pressure kettles, and emulsifiers.
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform routine physical activities including standing longer than 6 hours, walking, squatting, lift 50 pounds, exposure to extreme heat and/or cold, operate and use food service equipment; drive company vehicle to fulfill job duties, when applicable.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's & customer’s facilities.
  • Can withstand environment and maintain focus with a high noise level and considerable sensory stimulation.
  • Must be able to accurately & safely operate all N1 kitchen equipment.

Job Preferences:

  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaker
  • DPS-issued, Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Has a valid AZ driver’s license, as well as maintaining a clean driving record.

Salary Range:

FLSA Classification –Non-Exempt

$21.63-$24.00

Full-Time position: Possible Seasonal Position as hours greatly decrease during summer, Spring, Fall & Winter breaks.
