Schaffner L.Y.F.E. Center is seeking a Social Worker to join our team This position is responsible for ISPs and individual counseling services for youth who are residing at Schaffner L.Y.F.E. Center. The position requires an interface with youth as well as caregivers, community stakeholders, court liaisons, and other service providers in order to address the students’ needs. Day and evening work is required. Link youth and caregivers to appropriate services within the community as needed. Participate in weekly case management meetings and required supervision meetings. Collaborate with Case Workers daily to ensure proper attention to students’ needs.

Position Qualifications:

  • LCSW preferred
  • At least 21 years of age at the time of application
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Excel and Word)
  • Ability to work evening
  • Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
  • CPR / First Aid / Use of AED Certified
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence
  • Valid registered vehicle insurance
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department

Education:

  • Master’s degree required in social work, counseling, or related field. LCSW preferred

Experience/Training:

  • Safety Crisis Management & Intervention
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions as assigned by the Chief of Administration
  • Youth Level of Service Training
  • Gang Identification
  • CPR/First Aid/AED
  • Basic Advocacy Training
  • Child Protective Services Law Training
  • Trauma-Informed Care training.

Mental Demands Typical of this Position:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks, utilize creativity, maintain a high level of decision making, ability to adapt to a constantly changing work environment, maintain a high level of record keeping/routine paperwork, provide close attention to detail, ability to travel, ability to work under pressure for results, establish own goals, meet frequent deadlines, work in a closely supervised environment, and work closely with others.

Physical Demands Typical of this Position:

  • Ability to communicate orally, ability to hear conversation, and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand, ability to walk, ability to lift up to 10 pounds, ability to use both legs, ability to climb stairs.
  • Repetitive finger, movement, ability to stoop and the ability for rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneously.
  • The position demands that staff be alert and ready to react throughout their entire shift.

Working Conditions Typical of this Position:

  • Working 20 to 30 hours per week and working outside and inside. Job Relationships:

  • RESPONSIBLE TO: Typically reports to Chief of Administration
  • WORKERS SUPERVISED: Typically supervises none.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  1. Client Services
    1. Responsibilities include clinical evaluation and counseling services for youth who are residing at Juvenile Detention Center
    2. The position requires to interface with youth as well as caregivers, community stakeholders, court liaisons, and other service providers in order to address client’s needs
    3. Day and evening work is required
    4. Coordinate with Clinical therapists on certain projects.
    5. The position also requires work in other residential and/or outpatient settings
    6. Develop comprehensive clinical plans for each youth with input from the youth, caregivers, and other social service/medical staff
    7. Link youth and caregivers to appropriate services within the community as needed
    8. Participate in weekly case management and required supervision meetings
    9. Collaborate with social services staff daily to ensure proper attention to residents’ needs.
    10. Conduct social work intakes for social work resident caseloads
    11. Complete ISP with youth/residents and to be filed within resident file.
    12. Provide counseling sessions for all residents
    13. Conduct a trauma assessment including protective factors and coping skills for high-risk youth/residents
    14. If appropriate, conduct monthly family groups with resident which would strengthen family support systems, managing family challenges and strengths in process of reunification.
    15. Connecting residents with follow-up treatment and safety planning prior to discharge including assessing for suicide
    16. Ensuring all medical documents of residents are completed (vision, dental, etc.) by collaborating with medical team
    17. Ensuring counseling case-notes are completed by end of work week
    18. Review all admission intakes to ensure documentation is completed
  2. Training/Supervision
    1. Attend all staff development and training sessions as scheduled by the Chief of Administration.
    2. Participate in reviews of each youth’s service plan as scheduled by the Chief of Administration.
    3. Follow incident reporting procedures and provide the Chief of Administration with information on potential issues of safety and ethical/confidentiality dilemmas.
  3. Documentation
    1. Accurately complete all required documentation and submit them to the Chief of Administration at the designated time and place.
  4. Other Essential Functions of the job but not limited to:
    1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Administration.
    2. Adhere to all BCL Partners LLC’s personnel policies, the Code of Conduct, and the Integrity Compliance Plan.
    3. Follow special incidents reporting procedures.
