Position Objective: We are seeking a CNC Machinist II to set up and operate CNC and/or manual equipment to produce precision machined parts in the pump industry.

Position Summary: In this role, the CNC Machinist II will independently set up and operate CNC Lathes and Mills, as well as manual lathes and mills, to produce parts for pump assembly.

 

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)

 

  • Set up and operate CNC/Manual equipment with minimal supervision
  • Edit programs on CNC/Manual equipment with minimal supervision
  • Program CNC machines with guidance from senior personnel
  • Design and machine fixtures, as well as design and fabricate tooling, with minimal guidance from senior personnel
  • Adjust workpiece and tooling offsets
  • Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gages to perform accurate measurements on finished parts, ensuring compliance with drawing requirements
  • Perform secondary operations in support of the machine shop, such as cutting and preparing raw materials and washing parts as needed
  • Achieve set-up and run-time efficiency targets, actively suggesting and implementing ideas for efficiency improvement
  • Comprehend geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T)
  • Complete all required paperwork and machine shop work instructions related to each operation and job assignment
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC/Manual equipment according to ISO standards
  • Promote safety and quality throughout the machine shop
  • Maintain 5S standards within assigned work areas
  • Act in accordance with company policies and cultural programs

 

Qualifications:

  • 4-year Certified Apprenticeship plus 2+ years of set-up experience, or 5+ years of set-up and operating experience required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in calculations and knowledge of the metric system or the ability to learn it
  • Basic computer skills

 

Work Environment The work environment is temperature-controlled, with regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. There is limited exposure to electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment fluctuates between quiet and moderate.

 

Physical Demands The physical demands include standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing, and using hands to operate machine tools and other equipment. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
