Responsibilities:
- Conduct strategic reviews and updates of payroll processes to enhance team effectiveness.
- Resolve payroll inquiries from managers and employees.
- Collaborate with HR to optimize payroll system usage and ensure compliance with audit and regulatory guidelines.
- Research and address payroll-related regulatory issues, presenting solutions.
- Ensure payroll system setups comply with regulations on payroll, taxation, garnishments, and timekeeping.
- Reconcile payrolls for accuracy, documenting processes and meeting audit requirements.
- Process deductions, garnishments, liens, direct deposits, 401k contributions, and other payroll items accurately.
- Collaborate with accounting to prepare transactions, report to the general ledger, and ensure documentation adherence.
- Update general ledger items as requested by accounting.
- Ensure payroll procedures comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
- Align payroll procedures with the employee handbook in collaboration with employee relations.
- Develop templates and standard responses for consistent payroll-related communications.
- Reconcile earnings with W-2 information for accurate tax reporting.
- Work with the benefits/401k team to ensure correct W-2 entries.
- Partner with ADP on earnings and deduction code setups for proper taxation and functionality.
- Create and analyze payroll reports as needed.
- Undertake special projects or additional duties as required.
- Assess and manage risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and ethical standards. Supervise and hold accountable those who do not maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in multi-state payroll processes.
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now and eTIME.
- Strong understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws.
- Proficiency in MS Office and payroll software.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly analytical with extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task accurately and maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
