Job Summary: The Infant Toddler Early Childhood Director is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of high-quality early childhood programs for infants and toddlers. This role ensures all Infant/Toddler programming meet or exceed state licensing requirements and best practices in early childhood education. The Director will lead, mentor, and inspire a team of educators, provide professional development, and work closely with families to support the growth and development of young children. The Director must have extensive knowledge of Missouri Accreditation standards, curriculum development, Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, Trauma Smart, Early Head Start, and the Ages and Stages of child development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Management:
    • Develop, implement, and evaluate early childhood programming that aligns with Emmanuel’s philosophy and goals.
    • Ensure all programming meets state licensing requirements and Missouri Accreditation policies and procedures and adhere to best practices in early childhood education.
    • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for infants and toddlers.
    • Monitor and assess the developmental progress of children, adapting programs to meet individual needs.
    • Develop and oversee the implementation of the Creative Curriculum that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of young children.
    • Integrate principles of Conscious Discipline and Trauma Smart into daily practices and program activities.
  2. Staff Leadership and Development:
    • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of early childhood educators.
    • Provide ongoing professional development and support to staff, including conducting regular performance evaluations.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork, professional growth, and a shared commitment to excellence.
    • Mentor and coach educators to enhance their teaching skills and effectiveness, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
    • Lead by example, demonstrating strong ethical standards, integrity, and a passion for early childhood education.
  3. Family Engagement and Support:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with families, providing regular communication about their child’s progress and program activities.
    • Offer resources and support to families, addressing any concerns or needs related to their child’s development.
    • Coordinate family events and educational workshops to enhance parent involvement and engagement.
  4. Administrative and Operational Duties:
    • Develop and manage the program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Maintain accurate records, including enrollment, attendance, and child development documentation.
    • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare and maintain accreditation documentation, ensuring the center meets Missouri Accreditation and other relevant standards.
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and other administrative staff to support the overall mission and goals of the center.
  5. Community Outreach and Collaboration:
    • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and organizations to enhance program offerings and support services.
    • Represent the center at community events and meetings, advocating for early childhood education and resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in early childhood education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team of educators.
  • Knowledge of state licensing requirements and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, families, and community partners.
  • Proven problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of accreditation standards, including Missouri Accreditation.
  • Experience with Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
  • Familiarity with Conscious Discipline and Trauma Smart approaches.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Understanding of the ages and stages of child development.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to engage in active play with children.
