Public Relations Specialist

Async-Nu Microsystems is looking for a Public Relations/Communications Specialist to support the Southeast Cresent Regional Commission (SCRC). The SCRC’s vision is to promote and encourage economic development in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. The Public Relations/Communications Specialist will be responsible for cultivating SCRC's reputation as a leading advocate for poverty eradication to ensure that people within SCRC’s network have access to their message. You will create engaging content for various platforms, such as TV shows or YouTube videos, with catchy titles to assist in growing an audience. As the Public Relations/Communications Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing both internal and external communications for the company.
Location: This is a REMOTE position
Responsibilities:
- Develop effective corporate communication strategies. Work on creating communication plans that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Manage internal communications: Draft memos, newsletters, and other internal communication materials to keep employees informed.
- Draft content for mass media or the company website: This includes writing press releases and other materials for external audiences.
- Organize initiatives and plan events or press conferences: Coordinate events and ensure smooth communication during these occasions.
- Liaise with media: Handle requests for interviews, statements, and other media-related interactions.
- Foster relationships with advocates and key persons: Building strong connections with stakeholders is essential.
- Collaborate with marketing professionals: Work together to produce copy for advertisements or articles.
- Perform “damage control” in cases of bad publicity: Address negative situations and manage the company’s reputation.
- Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership.
Requirements and Skills:
- Proven experience as a communications specialist: Demonstrated expertise in corporate communications.
- Experience in web design and content production: Familiarity with creating content for digital platforms.
- Copywriting and editing skills: Ability to craft compelling and accurate written content.
- Solid understanding of project management principles: Organizational skills are crucial.
- Working knowledge of MS Office: Proficiency in using office software.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills: Effective communication is at the core of this role.
- Outstanding organizational and planning abilities: Must be able to juggle multiple tasks.
- Proficient command of English: Strong language skills are essential.
- BSc/BA in public relations, communications, or a relevant field: Educational background related to the role.
