Required skills for job & position:

- Ability to organize and analyze transportation data
- Knowledge of Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and/or regional long-range transportation planning efforts
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a diverse audience

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Ability to manage financial resources
- Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate and complete multiple assignments within scheduled timeframes
- Ability to evaluate, develop, and maintain innovative solutions for transportation planning and mobility initiatives

**Additional Considerations**
- Ability to act as a liaison with diverse groups, e.g., government officials, special interest groups, citizens, etc.
- A combination of training, experience, or education in transportation planning, urban planning, or related field desired
- Knowledge of long-range transportation planning to include Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), transportation studies and traffic analyses
- Knowledge of planning and traffic engineering software
- Certified Planner with American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) certification desired

H1B VISA Sponsorship is not available. VDOT utilizes a market-based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.

This position is designated to emergency operations and may be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
