Flight Test Lead
Apogee Research builds software tools that dramatically accelerate how quickly the DoD can integrate systems together, be they multiple software or hardware systems (e.g., radios or pods) on a single platform or systems that span multiple platforms coordinating in real time across domains. Given our success in creating operational capabilities, our customers (Air Force, Navy, USMC, OSD R&E, INDOPACOM, etc.) are increasingly requesting that we participate in events with significant coordination challenges. Accordingly, Apogee Research is looking for a Test Lead to coordinate our participation in service-level and large-force test events and joint force training exercises to enable us to showcase the value of our technologies. The test events will span all branches of the military and a wide array of domains (ISR, EW, Networking, Cyber, etc.).
The position is based out of our Arlington, VA office (full-time in person), but will require significant travel to support integration and testing with hardware.
Existing DoD Top Secret clearance is required.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop deep understanding of Apogee research capabilities and their relevance to operational needs and missions
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create plans for demonstration, test, and exercise events (including both participation in existing events and design of new events)
- Coordinate with external organizations to enable these events, including documentation (e.g., test planning documents, test reviews, security documentation), attendance at key coordination activities (e.g., planning conferences), site surveys, etc.
- Internal coordination to ensure the team is ready for the events, including identifying test points, executing internal test reviews, executing dry runs, buying necessary hardware or other supplies, etc.
- Lead Apogee’s participation in the events, including handling logistics, set-up at the test, test execution, data collection, etc.
Depending on the candidate, this role can extend beyond the test activities to also include significant hands-on work supporting creation of capabilities, data analysis and assessment of capabilities after the fact, or other items.
Qualifications
- Detail oriented, highly organized, clear communicator and extremely motivated to create operational capabilities for the US military
- We prefer a candidate with significant experience with operational military systems and experience executing test events that involve many platforms and many different organizations.
- Comfortable quickly adapting to change and comfortable executing without clear requirements
