(Mobile, AL): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Medical Billing Clerk to join our client's team. This position plays a crucial role in the healthcare industry, responsible for collecting payments for outstanding claims, researching denials, correcting, and submitting claims for payment promptly.

 

Essential Duties:

• Collect payments for outstanding claims and ensure accurate reconciliation of payments received.

• Research insurance denials, identify reasons, and submit corrections as necessary.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current government and carrier regulations relevant to medical billing.

• Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and take appropriate actions.

• Communicate professionally with internal personnel, payors, providers, patients, and other authorized representatives regarding outstanding balances.

• Identify trends in carrier payments and denials, documenting actions taken to resolve issues.

• Review and respond to correspondence such as EOBs, Remittance Advice (RAs), and denial letters promptly.

• Conduct follow-up and collections activities on accounts, including making outbound calls to payers and utilizing payer websites.

 

Requirements/Skills:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Minimum three years of experience in appeal submissions or equivalent education in medical billing/coding.

• Comprehensive understanding of insurance billing and denial processes.

• Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on resolving issues effectively.

• Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal errors.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.

• Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Strong research and problem-solving abilities.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods without leaving the work area.
