About the Opportunity

We seek an experienced Tax Manager responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, preparation, research, and review process of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses. This role requires strong technical skills, leadership experience, and the capability to guide team members. The Tax Manager will have direct access to the partners where we offer opportunities to build your skills and explore your career in a supportive environment. This role provides an impactful position within our firm, where you will encounter challenges and be recognized for your technical excellence and leadership.

Responsibilities

·         Demonstrate advanced technical aptitude in taxation and lead preparation of complex tax returns, including individuals, C-Corp, S-
 Corp, partnerships, trusts, estates, etc., for clients in a variety of industries

·         Establish rapport and work directly with clients to resolve tax questions and issues

·         Review the work of associates and provide feedback for growth and development

·         Perform extensive tax research on complex tax issues

·         Handle IRS, state, and governmental correspondence and audits

·         Manage engagement of team members to ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks and be a resource for team members

·         Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables

·         Provide guidance/mentorship to staff and assist them in developing technical skills.

·         Train new employees in the firm’s technology, processes, and procedures

·         Maintain a program for periodic tax updates and education for the tax group

·         Develop and propose innovative ideas and enhancements for executing tasks to accomplish firm and departmental objectives

Qualifications

·         Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience required

·         Minimum of 3 years of supervising and training experience required

·         CPA license required

·         Subject matter expert in corporate, partnership, individual or trust and estate taxation required

·         Auto dealership tax or accounting experience (a plus)

·         Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

·         Thorough working knowledge of MS Office; Word, Excel, and Outlook required

·         Thomson Reuters (UltraTax) Software experience (preferred)

·         Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently with ease and professionalism required

·         Ability to travel to client locations, which may include occasional overnight stays
