We have a 1099 contractor opportunity with a Pomeroy client for an onsite Data Center Technician in Mayfield Heights, OH. This is a 12-month contract with potential to extend.

Client Schedule: Onsite, Monday thru Friday, 8am to 5pm Eastern

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patching requirements for server, network, and backbones
  • Install patch cables at clients’ request, routing properly and labeling
  • Whenever possible bulk patching under one CR
  • Patch server/appliance into appropriate patch panel, patching on patch fields, and/or SDF to switches.
  • Forecast and maintain sufficient patch cables in stock
  • Track patched switch port details
  • Patch cable troubleshooting or replacing patch cables
  • Escort and assist hardware vendor / service provider etc. (Incident / break-fix task)
  • Check or troubleshoot cables/patching tasks
  • Power Cycling/manage power tasks
  • Maintain an inventory of devices hosted in data center space.
  • Produce a report including all data requested by client.
  • Provide hardware triage support services, consisting of OEM Standard Warranty Repair Services, Enhanced Warranty Repair Service, Post Warranty Repair and Out of Warranty Repair as applicable, for Devices.
  • Test for functionality of the Device and network connectivity.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a data center technician, or similar.
  • In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment.
  • Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment.
  • Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors.
  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies.
  • Proficiency in documenting network processes.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Willingness to respond to network and server errors as needed.
