Job Summary: Cultivate a culture that exhibits excellence in service, hospitality and accountability. Demonstrate on a daily basis the ability to lead a team of individuals to a common goal. Understand all roles and responsibilities in the restaurant as it pertains to service, product knowledge and financial accountability.

Responsibilities:

  • A line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen.
  • Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Prepares all food items ads directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
  • Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.
  • English language and professional communications skills
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a team environment.
  • Must be able speak, read and understand directions.
  • Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated, and organized.
  • Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.
  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school certification.
  • Previous prep or line cook experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Fast paced movements are required to handle high volume environment.
  • Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift of up to 40 pounds on occasion and 15 pounds regularly.
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
  • Has the ability to taste all foods to ensure correct preparation.
