Mechanical Testing Lab Engineer
Notes:

POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Lab Engineer oversees the activity of the testing lab by developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or development processes. This position is responsible for technical report writing and media creation as well as presentations and overseeing the analysis of all customer warranty claims.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and manage testing processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery.
- Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
- Communicate quality standards and parameters to the quality assurance team, product development team, and other appropriate staff.
- Coordinate product testing processes.
- Conduct tensile, water pressure and other required product testing. Direct engineering staff assisting in these processes.
- Direct and oversee all work performed on the lab by the engineering team when they conduct testing.
- Identify and analyze issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommend and facilitate solutions to these issues.
- Review client, customer, and user feedback and recommend changes if needed.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
- Create NCR and CAR reports and maintain access data base.
- Record data and write reports as required and provide data analysis summary and communication with Engineering.
- Third party compliance inspection interface due to Covid travel restrictions.
- Perform market research regarding product testing requirements.
- Check and maintain calibration schedules for all testing lab equipment.
- Maintain Quality Management Systems document library.
- Observe and enforce all safety protocols within the testing lab.
- Answer customer questions about product materials, design, proper installation, and other technical specifications.
- Create visual media quality and inspection processes for overseas vendors.
- Contributing member of the QA review board.
- Process all warranty claims by testing products, identifying the issue, and writing conclusion reports.
- Trouble shoot and service on-site computers and printers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the compliance and testing required (Mechanical Engineering Ideal)
· Three to five years of experience in related field required.
· Technical report writing skills.
