Health Information Coder II

Pay Range: 26.00-30.00 per hr.
Contract for 720 hours-4 months
Opportunity for growth
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Post medical charges into medical billing software to meet daily and monthly goals
- Review charts and identify procedures: abstract and code outpatient charts utilizing ICD and CPT classifications
- Evaluate charts for completeness and accuracy
- Participate in performance improvement projects
- General knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT codes
Other duties may be required, besides those listed above
.Qualifications and Skills
- 2-3 years hands on Coding experience
- Knowledgeable in ICD-10 CM, coding convention and guidelines
- Familiar with 3M encoder and Epic and Meditech
- Ability to communicate and work effectively
Applicants must meet both of the following, credentials -and- experience requirements:
Credentials:
Must possess and maintain the following:
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CC's issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
AND
Experience: One (1) of the following options:
Option #1
Two (2) years of experience (within the past five (5) years) coding inpatient stays in a Level I or II Trauma Center utilizing ICD-10 (International Coding of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding classifications. Indicate the level on supplemental questionnaire.
Option #2
Three (3) years of experience (within the past five (5) years) coding inpatient stays in an acute care hospital utilizing ICD-10 (International Coding of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding classifications.
- Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to pass drug screening
- Must be able to provide verifiable past employment references
- Accuracy and attention to detail is critical
