Shift hours: Standard School Hours

Client/Facility: Colorado Springs School District 11

Pay Rate: $31/Hr

Start Date: August 8-May25 for 24-25 school year

Note: Candidates without CDE Certification could be considered for this role, however, they should be comfortable to take one

Job Description:

1. Knowledge of special education as applied to the needs of the students assigned to the teacher's particular area.

2. Knowledge of the general organization and functions of a public-school system.

3. Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with students, parents, and community groups.

4. Good organization and communication skills.

5. Demonstrates accomplishments in keeping professionally current.

Performs related work as required:

6. Knowledge, Abilities, And Skills

7. Understands and demonstrates classroom management/instructional strategies to support student achievement.

8. Integrated technology skills to support the content areas.

9. Knowledge of child and adolescent development.

10. Knowledge of subject areas, curriculum, and standards-based education.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in education or other related discipline.

2. Valid CDE teacher licensure with appropriate endorsement.

3. Designated positions may require training in and ability to use sign language.

Working Conditions:

4. The work is performed in a school classroom.

Physical Demands:

The work is mostly walking and standing with periods of sittings. Typical positions require workers to lift and carry up to 75 pounds; climb stairs, ladders or scaffolding; bend and crouch; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards; demonstrate an athletic activity or physical exercise; and feel the shape, size and temperature of objects; and physically restrain students. The work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, and to detect odors
