Being a machine shop in the heart of Elkhart we offer a diversity of services to our customers including CNC milling, turning, swiss turning, Wire EDM, and screw machines work. JOB SUMMARY

The CNC setup swiss Machinist is responsible to make parts to print using CNC swiss lathes. They will be setting up a CNC Swiss machine, loading/editing the part program, setting up or making fixtures, loading and running parts, deburring and inspecting parts to make sure they’re within tolerance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Being able to setup and operate CNC swiss lathes, including making and setting up fixtures, Loading and editing programs, making first article parts and presenting them to quality for inspection.
  • Be able to make work coordinate or tool offsets.
  • Load, unload parts and run parts to print,
  • Deburr and check parts with appropriate measuring tools
  • Document inspections as required
  • Be able to pass jobs off to CNC Operators when required by instructing the operator on the job requirements.
  • Additional items as assigned by manager

 

PRINCIPAL CONTACTS INSIDE/OUTSIDE THE COMPANY

This position interacts with other trades in and outside their area including CNC Machinists, CNC Operators, Quality Control, Supervisors, Project Managers, and Engineering.

 

COMPETENCY OR POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in the operation of CNC Swiss lathes
  • Understanding of CNC controls and G-code programming language
  • Proficient in use of measuring tools including mics, calipers, bore gages
  • Skilled in the reading of blueprints
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Be proficient in machining methodologies, the use of cutting tools, and the ability to troubleshoot machining problems
  • Time management skills

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school education / Vocational School
  • Minimum 5 years of Swiss lathe setup experience (Please only apply if you have Swiss lathe experience)
  • Ability to push/ pull pallet loads, and lift 65 pounds
  • Must be able to use computers with Excel and Word
  • Any additional certifications

 

EQUIPMENT USED

Including, but not limited to: Personal Computer, CNC Lathes & Mills, CNC Swiss Machines, Manual machines, small deburring and hand tools, measuring tools-mics, calipers, bore gages.

 

WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS

  • Work will be performed on the Manufacturing Floor.
  • Some lifting and kneeling are required.
