Job DescriptionJob Description

The Assistant Retail Manager will report to and work with his/her/their Overall Store Manager(s) in all functional areas.

Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of retail experience as a sales associate and at least 1 year of experience as an assistant manager at a similar small business, neighborhood card, gift, or vintage retail store.

Talent Developer–Ability to Identify Talent, Delegate, Develop, Manage People
- Recruiting, supervising, training, and developing staff through coaching
- Working with Store Manager to set expectations for current and new employees. Provide feedback to Store Manager about
staff performance as needed.
- Training employees on opening and closing duties, POS, inventory, and cash management
- Meet with Store Manager at least weekly to establish needs and resourcing; provide written notes with project tasks and priorities accomplished on days that Assistant Manager is the sole Manager on duty
-Ability to assess daily projects & assign them to other employees/direct their daily objectives
- Coaching employees on procedures, customer service, and vendor issues as well as directing staff. (Work with Store Manager(s) and/or Owners on more challenging issues..)
- A back-up for the Store Manager(s) for coaching employees on procedures, customer service, and vendor issues as well as directing staff. (Work with Store Manager(s) and/or Owners on more challenging issues before resolution.)

Positive Professional Communicator
- Strong communication and staff support to create a positive and productive work environment

Communicating with and providing guidance to other team members
- Working with Store Manager to set and maintain store priorities
- Updating online employee reference material for changes in procedures or new initiatives and share with employees
- Working with others to provide ideas for new products and share customer feedback

Customer Experience Role Model
- Promoting high level of customer service standards both personally and by coaching
- Maintain and create new displays and adjust displays based on incoming product/seasonal changes, including Gallery Walls.
- Back-up the Store Manager on customer escalations; coach staff on customer experience

Product Buying Strategy using Strong Financial and Business Acumen
- Buying responsibilities under the direction of the Store Manager(s)
- Evaluate seasonal sales performance using established POS system and provide support to the Store Manager who leads this effort
- Adjust buying up or down based on past performance and future projections (Manager Leads by ensuring buying is within budget and projection parameters.)
- Preparing purchase orders, submitting payments, tracking payments and credits using established (or newly updated) procedures and train others

Organization Skills
- Collaborating with other locations and managers to adopt consistent procedures and processes
- Collaborate with Store Manager(s) and Owners on timing for major changes using annual operations calendar (used across stores), documented to do lists, and individual Google calendars
- Maintaining accuracy of POS/inventory management system (working with others)
- Administrative Tasks, including reading and responding to emails (Personal Foursided email AND Store Email), as well as processing paperwork + vendor claims
