The Fleet and Facilities Technician shall be responsible for maintaining RCESD1 and RCESD2’s fleet of vehicles, equipment, and facilities.

Role and Responsibilities

Fleet Technician :

  • Performs routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on fleet vehicles, including firefighting apparatus and equipment, ambulances, cars, trucks, vans, and other specialized equipment.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and other issues related to the fleet.
  • Conducts regular preventive maintenance activities, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Complies with legal, safety, and environmental regulations related to fleet operations.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintains relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers related to fleet maintenance and services.
  • Adjusts equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Aligns equipment or machinery.
  • Assembles electrical components, systems , or subsystems.
  • Assembles mechanical components or machine parts.
  • Assembles structural components.
  • Cleans equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order.
  • Cleans work areas.
  • Inspects mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
  • Inspects mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects, or wear.
  • Installs electrical components, equipment, or systems.
  • Installs energy-efficient heating, ventilation, or air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
  • Installs insulation in equipment or structures.
  • Installs machine or equipment replacement parts.
  • Lays out work according to specifications.
  • Lubricates equipment to allow proper functioning.
  • Maintains work equipment or machinery.
  • Measures distances or dimensions.
  • Operates cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
  • Reads technical information needed to perform maintenance or repairs.
  • Records information about parts, materials, or repair procedures.
  • Repairs electrical circuits or wiring.
  • Repairs structural components.
  • Replaces worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
  • Tests fluids to identify contamination or other problems.
  • Tests mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • May be required to attend meetings as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned for the successful execution and/or completion of various projects.

Facilities Technician:

  • Maintains RCESD1 and RCESD2’s facilities, including offices, stations, warehouses, and other premises.
  • Conducts inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and operational issues.
  • Performs general repairs, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry tasks.
  • Coordinates with external contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance services.
  • Maintains inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies needed for facility maintenance.
  • Monitors the usage, condition, and performance of fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Assists in the procurement of spare parts, supplies, and materials for vehicle and facility maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and ensures adequate stock levels related to fleet and facility maintenance.
  • Coordinates with suppliers and vendors for timely delivery of parts and materials.
  • Conducts regular inventory audits and reconciles any discrepancies.
  • All other duties as assigned for the successful execution and/or completion of various projects.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations when performing maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure that vehicles and facilities meet safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Identify and report potential safety hazards or risks.
  • Assist in the implementation of safety programs and initiatives.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Technical training or certification in automotive maintenance, facilities management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prefer that the candidate knows the latest business policies and regulations and demonstrates analytical and business insight.
  • Experience in fleet maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar role is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, maintenance procedures, and repair techniques.
  • Basic understanding of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general carpentry.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of using fleet software, facility software, and MS Office Suite.
  • Good communication skills on all fronts and excellent interpersonal skills to ensure the free flow of the company logistics process.
  • Ability to Read/Write in English.
  • Good customer care ability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team whenever it is necessary to do so.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to prioritize in the face of multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills to always ensure efficiency in service delivery.
