Position Overview:
The Facility Technician will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of a multi-tenant commercial property. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach to ensure the building's infrastructure, equipment, and systems operate efficiently and effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facility maintenance, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently while responding to the needs of tenants and property management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repairs:

    • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
    • Address and resolve maintenance issues promptly to ensure tenant satisfaction and safety.
    • Carry out minor repairs and troubleshooting for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
    • Coordinate and supervise work performed by outside contractors and vendors, ensuring adherence to company standards and safety regulations.
  • Building Operations:

    • Monitor building security systems, fire alarms, and emergency equipment to ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations.
    • Assist in managing the building's energy management systems and recommend improvements for energy efficiency.
    • Support the implementation of preventative maintenance programs to extend the life of equipment and systems.
  • Tenant Relations:

    • Respond to tenant service requests in a timely and professional manner, ensuring high levels of customer service.
    • Communicate effectively with tenants and management to provide updates on maintenance activities and schedule any necessary repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Inventory & Supplies:

    • Manage and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.
    • Coordinate with the Facility Manager to order necessary supplies and materials for maintenance and repair tasks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field, preferably in a multi-tenant commercial property setting.
  • Experience with building automation systems and energy management practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Availability for on-call emergencies and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
