Lawyers on Demand (LOD) is seeking a Business Immigration Paralegal to support one of our global clients in delivering the highest level of service to internal and external clients alike.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for global mobility managers and employees to provide comprehensive immigration services including initiating intake of cases, analyzing documents, preparing employees for AOS interviews, and developing immigration compliance procedures.
- Communicate with foreign nationals and/or client contacts, providing clear and prompt responses to case status or other general inquiries, and escalating legal questions as appropriate.
- Develop case strategy and prepare a wide variety of business-based nonimmigrant petitions including H-1B, H-3, TN, E, J-1, L-1, and O-1.
- Perform tasks related to case preparation and filing of petitions with government agencies. This may include document gathering, document review, case drafting, and/or preparation for filing.
- Communicate effectively and consistently with clients and employees regarding case updates.
- Coordinate all phases of the PERM-based green card process with human resources and talent acquisition managers.
- Assist employees with applying for and obtaining work visas with U.S. consular offices abroad.
- Compile and maintain records on behalf of corporate client's employees.
- Manage client data and reports with case management software.
- Diligently update team/firm-mandated data points and milestones in the case management system.
- Provide status updates to clients and senior-level team members.
- Gain an understanding of immigration case types and follow client and team-specific processes.
- Review immigration regulations and apply them to various case scenarios.
- Perform research using all available immigration research tools including government agencies’ websites.
Education and Experience/Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, Paralegal certification, OR experience in a customer-facing or client service-oriented role, either in retail or professional services.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and Adobe Acrobat.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with the corporate immigration process.
- A client-service mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task, spot issues, pay attention to detail, and exercise good judgment to escalate matters appropriately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Lawyers On Demand (LOD) offers flexible talent placement rates that range from $15 to $100 per hour depending upon experience level and specific skills requested by the client, candidate’s general skill set, applicability of candidate skill set to client need, client budget, number of hours requested, and other factors. A specific rate of pay for a project will be discussed with you if it is determined that you are a potential fit for a role.
