Job Title: Lead AV Technician

 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Lead AV Technician to join our luxury home automation design firm. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in residential AV network installations, lighting control systems, and home automation components. The Lead AV Technician will be responsible for overseeing the installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of various systems, as well as guiding and training technician s.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Install and calibrate audio/visual, networking, and automation equipment in residential, commercial, and retail locations.

- Understand and implement system design and wiring.

- Interpret engineering schematics, terminate head-end system components, and understand installation interfaces between control systems and subsystems.

- Program and troubleshoot Elan, Lutron, Crestron, and networking systems.

- Direct and train apprentice installers to assist in the installation process.

- Perform routine maintenance and updates on installed systems.

- Coordinate with project team members to plan, coordinate, and implement projects.

- Troubleshoot and repair complex A/V, security, surveillance, and control systems.

- Maintain technical documentation and update records as needed.

 

Key Knowledge and Skills:

- Advanced understanding of A/V and control system design.

- Advanced understanding of networking/data system design and engineering.

- Advanced understanding of security system programming and design.

- Project management knowledge for planning, coordinating, executing, monitoring, and closing projects.

- Leadership knowledge for performance coaching and accountability.

- Knowledge of high-end residential systems integration, including audio/video, lighting, shades, climate control, security, CCTV, telephone, and computer networks.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electronic schematics, and user manuals.

- Understanding of construction techniques and wiring.

- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems with attention to detail.

- Strong customer service skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

 

Qualifications:

- Minimum five years of experience as a Technician in custom integration installation and/or service.

- Experience with rack fabrication, termination, and calibration of audio and video equipment and home automation systems.

- Experience with Lutron Systems, Elan Home Systems, Crestron, Crestron Home, and/or Control4 is a plus.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong time management skills and ability to work under pressure.

- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record.

- Willingness to travel as needed.

 

Working Conditions:

- This position may require working in various environments, including residential and commercial construction sites.

- Physical ability to perform tasks involving system installations and troubleshooting.

- Full-time position available Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with potential overtime required as business needs demand.
